Tournament
Red Bays Red Bays is the only settlement on the western side of the
island. In 1840, a mixed group of Seminole Indians and Negro slaves
crossed the Gulf Stream in dugout canoes and settled here. This settlement
is 14 miles from the San Andros Airport. It is well known for its
basket-weaving and woodcarving. The person who catches the most fish
will be declared the winner. Lots of home cook dishes will be on
sale accompanied by live rake & scrape music and a DJ.

Point
Homecoming is among the many festivals celebrated in The Bahamas
by the locals and it symbolizes the coming together and uniting of
the community. Highlights of the event are a cultural show, live

Anglican Church Fair, Fresh
Creek
Fresh Creek, Andros is 2.5 miles from the Andros Town Airport. St.
Stephen’s Anglican Church was built in the early 1900’s.
Rumor has it that an old pirate’s treasure is buried under
the church. This is an annual event that is sponsored by the members

Fair
Naval Base, Andros Town
The base is three-minute drive from the Andros Town Airport.
Time- 10:00 am –2:00 pm. The event, sponsored by the AUTEC
Company lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Native dishes, craft, American
ceramics, and food are on sale. In order to attend, one must be a
vendor or apply three (3) days in advance to be able to receive a

Cay Homecoming & Regatta,
Mangrove Cay
Mangrove Cay is described as an island within an island. It is separated
from North Andros by straits known as North and Middle Bight. This
is one of the few places where a visitor can still get a glimpse
of the way of life that characterized The Islands of The Bahamas
half a century ago. Homecoming is among the many festivals celebrated
in The Bahamas by the locals and it symbolizes the coming together
and uniting of the community. Highlights of the event are the Spring
Sailing races and the Mother’s Day Church service. Contact

Junior Achievement Fair,
Fresh Creek
The purpose of the fair is to raise funds for the continuation and
operation of the organization. This organization has been established
in Central Andros for over twenty years and the first in the Family
Islands. High school students run this event. A number of students

Homecoming Festival, Kemp’s
Bay
Kemp’s Bay, South Andros, is 10 miles from the Congo Town Airport.
This settlement is home to a boat-building yard where South Andros’ fishing
sloops are constructed and the most scenic beaches on the island.
Homecoming symbolizes the coming together of Androsians. During this
time a number of cultural activities take place: local rake-n-scrape,
old-timer fashion show and much more including the highlight of the
event - the boat race.

CrabFest,
Fresh Creek
Fresh Creek is 2.5 miles from the Andros Town Airport. Andros is
known as the land of crabs and its crab-catching ways. Highlights
of this event are the crab cultural show, the releasing of the crabs,
crab culinary contest, crabs of Andros life-cycle display and rake-n-scrape

Gombay Festival

Held on Fridays, this event highlights the heritage and culture of
The Bahamas with performances of the Goombay Dancers, the Love Hill

Native dishes are also a popular feature.
