farm.
East Bimini
The Healing Hole is a spring of freshwater, with healing minerals, that percolates
inside a saltwater mangrove swamp.
Sand Mounds, a 500 foot long, shark-shaped mound thought to be thousands of years
old, rises 10 feet above water and is outlined by a sandy beach. Nearby is a
rectangular-shaped mound, except for a projection at one end that looks like
a fish-hook. Next to that are a cat-shaped mound with a wide open mouth and several
other creature-shaped mounds rising above the mangroves.
Outlying Cays
Cat Cay, a private island just south of Gun Cay, has earned a reputation as a
place for the rich and famous.
Ocean Cay is close to the site from which aragonite (pure limestone) is dredged
from the ocean’s floor to produce cement, fertilizers, glass and other
products.
