‘Hot’ on the scene and ready to ‘wow’ guests is Sandals Emerald Bay, one hundred and eighty beautiful villas and bay house style accommodations. The resort is complete with an eighteen hole Greg Norman-designed golf course where you can tee of in style like the pros. Sandals Emerald Bay boasts a seventeen acre stand alone marina, the first ever at any of the Sandals properties.
At Grand Isles Resort & Spa meeting your expectation as a guest is mediocrity at best .. exceeding guest expectations is the aim here. Stay at the Grand and be blown away by the meticulous attention tothose little special gestures (like using your name when they address you, knowing the way you take your coffee in the morning and the way you enjoy turn down service in the evening) that adds to your overall experience. Its preferential treatment that pushes the envelope for other properties to subscribe and set new standards of expectation in your mind the next time you check-in anywhere. Palm Bay Beach Club is a great family vacation lodge. Tastefully appointed quaint Bahamian cottages with an ambiance that gives way to a feel of being home-away-from-home. Needless to say that you would enjoy your stay at any of these properties but you will be pleased to know that investment opportunities are available at all of them giving you an opportunity to stake claim to a small piece of paradise. To stay charged up for all of the land explorations and water activities that you will get involved in stop into Iva Bowes’, Big D’s Conch Shack and Eddie’s Edgewater to enjoy great local cuisine .. be sure to try the boiled fish and Johnny cake, the cracked conch burger and if you take a day’s trip over to Stalking Island don’t leave before checking out the ‘Chat & Chill’ beach bar for a scrumptious serving of conch salad and a cold Kalik, a Bahamian brewed beer. And among all the sights to take in don’t leave before stopping in at Government Wharf, where most of the locals gather and the town’s daily activities take place. Be sure to cross the demarcation line of the Tropic of Cancer (which runs through Georgetown) just to say that you did! Snorkelers will just love the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park (the first of its kind in the world, and the first marine fishery reserve in the Caribbean accessible only by boat) for its pristine beauty: transparent turquoise waters and coral teeming with fish and lobster – well worth every effort getting there.
A great time to visit would be during the annual Family Islands Regatta each April. During the four days of regatta Bahamian sailors arrive prepared to sail their locally built sloops for the much coveted “Best in The Bahamas” title. The competition is fierce and the atmosphere is charged with excitement as boating enthusiasts the world over come to participate and watch. If you miss this one then arrange to be at the Staniel Cay Cruising Regatta where residents and visitors on Staniel Cay ring in the New Year with a traditional regatta, charity auction and floating driving range.
The Exumas – it is surely, island living at its most ingenious: a place where boundaries magically blur, redefining your perspective on dream tropical vacations.
