Opening of Season for Winter Residents

Farmer’s Hill Homecoming
Friday night – social, Saturday – all-day cook-out specializing in Bahamian food like potato bread, Benny cake, flour cake and peas ‘n rice. Annual Onion Soup Christmas and Variety Show.

Christmas Tree-lighting Ceremony
Regatta Park. Christmas is a time for celebrating the birth of Jesus around the world. Exuma is no different. Natives as well as visitors gather in Regatta Park to sing carols and see performances by some of the local talents. Boxing Day, Junkanoo Parade
George Town, 3:00 a.m. The climax of the Bahamian Christmas is the Junkanoo Parade. This parade is a tradition that has been passed down through generations for many years. Music is made from cowbells, goatskin drums and a number of other instruments, while the colorful costumes are designed from cardboard and crepe paper. Contact: Mr. Stephen Cole ph. New Years’ Day - Staniel Cay Cruising Regatta and New Years’ Celebration.
Residents and visitors in Exuma’s beautiful Staniel Cay bring in the New Year with traditional festivities including a sailing regatta, a charity auction and floating drive (golf). Contact: Mr. David Hocher ph. (242) 355-2024

George Town Cruising Regatta

Bahamian Music and Heritage Festival
An exciting time for the whole family. This festival features an awesome line-up of The Bahamas’ most popular and talented musicians such Ronnie Butler, Avvy Mortimer, Nita as well as native musicians such as the Rolleville Unite Band and Audley Dames and the Sweet Love Band. Arts and crafts such as wood and conch shell carvings and will be on sale along with Bahamian dishes. There will be lots of activities for kids as well as adults including storytelling, singing, poetry reading and Bahamian sloop exhibition. National Family Island Regatta George Town Exuma.
